  The service and decor were great. The food was underwhelming from appetizer to desert. In fact, the food would have been mediocre at half the price. I didn't finish my steak, not because I was full, but because it wasn't worth the effort. We had a wonderful time with a party of eight, and had three servers making sure we were well taken care of. I expected much more from the kitchen in terms of quality for the money. I rarely feel compelled to leave a restaurant review. That should speak for itself.

  Had dinner at Roots yesterday. Crab soup on a special was delicious. We had porterhouse steak. We had ordered a medium and it was served extra rare . One of the sides was served after we completely finished our meal.
  The steak had lots of fat and you could easily say that it was not a good cut. On top of everything else when I got home my stomach had bothered me all throughout the night.
  All of that experience only for $300. I don't mind paying for a good meal but that was not one for sure.

  I can't deny the fact that they cook a solid steak here and their appetizer menu is the highlight of everything they offer. That being said, the service here is weak. If I am paying $40 for a steak I expect the service to exceed my expectations. I enjoyed my meal the four times I've been there. I feel the service though has made me want to go to Ruth Chris or Natirar for a great steak if I plan on treating myself to a nice cut of beef.

  The steak was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is wonderful and the waitstaff is extremely attentive. Only bad thing I have to say is their muffins tasted a bit like cardboard. Otherwise, everything was amazing. The restaurant is on the pricey side so if you are on a budget this is not the place to go.
